Merlo Ireland Dealer Training
Merlo Ireland welcomed its dealer network to Naas Racecourse for an intensive two-day product sales training programme, bringing together sales professionals from across the Merlo Dealer Network to deepen their knowledge of the latest agricultural and construction equipment.
The event combined classroom-based learning with extensive hands-on machine demonstrations, allowing delegates to explore the features, applications and customer benefits of the full Merlo range.
Leading the training were Product Support Manager, Andy Collier and Regional Product Manager, Fran Cullen, who guided participants through key product developments, model updates and market opportunities. Sessions covered both the agricultural and construction sectors, with practical exercises around the machines helping delegates translate technical specifications into real-world customer solutions.
A particular highlight was the Hybrid ROTO, which was presented at an Irish dealer training event for the first time. The innovative machine attracted significant interest from dealers keen to understand how its dual-power capabilities can deliver productivity and operational flexibility across a wide range of applications.
Despite the scale of the material covered over the two days, engagement remained high throughout.
"There was a huge amount of information to share, but the dealers remained fully engaged throughout the programme," said Andy Collier. "We kept the training fresh and interactive with quizzes, discussions and hands-on demonstrations, which encouraged participation and helped bring the products to life."
For Frank Smyth, Managing Director of FJS Plant, the training reinforced what makes the Merlo range stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
"The biggest takeaway for me was fully understanding the benefits of owning a Merlo and the unique features that set them apart from competitors. There is no product on the market like it," he said.
"There is no substitute for face-to-face training and having the machines there to operate, test and demonstrate during the sessions. It gives the sales team real confidence and first-hand experience that we can pass directly on to customers."
Smyth added that customer demand remains strong across the range, particularly for Compact construction models and the expanding ROTO offering, including the new Hybrid ROTO.
"Once customers see the lifting capacity, reach and versatility of the ROTO range, they quickly recognise the return on investment. The new Hybrid ROTO takes that even further by combining full diesel performance with plug-in electric operation for zero-emission working in sensitive environments such as hospitals, data centres and city-centre projects."

On the agricultural side, mid-range telehandlers continue to be the backbone of many Irish dairy and beef operations, while the MultiFarmer remains a popular choice for mixed farms thanks to its rear linkage and PTO capabilities.
As the most recent addition to the Merlo Ireland dealer network, Martin Kirrane, Owner at Kirrane Machinery, of Co. Mayo also saw significant value in the training.
"I found the training on the agricultural machines very useful and definitely learned a few things I wasn't aware of regarding the features and specifications," said Kirrane. "At the moment we're seeing strong interest in the entry-level models such as the P27.6, and hopefully as the winter-feeding season approaches we'll see demand spread to the larger models as well."
He added: "Training like this is invaluable, particularly when it gives us the opportunity to see and operate models we don't normally have in stock. It helps us offer customers the right machine with confidence."

The event further underlined the strength of the Merlo Ireland dealer network, which provides nationwide sales, parts and aftersales support through a team of Merlo-trained technicians and product specialists, ensuring customers receive expert advice and support throughout the lifetime of their machine.
